What Are The Best Pushup Bars

In this article I’m going to answer the question “what are the best push-up bars?” To answer this, however, we need to figure out what exactly it is you’re looking for. So I’m going to break things up into categories and you choose which category best applies to you.

Cheap and cheerful

Needing a cheap and cheerful first push-up bar

(New to training and/or using push-up bars, wanting something fairly cheap to try)

Moderately heavy-duty, but not too expensive

Needing something moderately heavy duty, but still reasonably priced

(possibly for weighted push-ups and/or extended use, that doesn't break the bank)

Heavy-duty, comfortable, robust, will be used consistently

Needing something heavy duty, ergonomically designed and comfortable

(possible joint, shoulder or wrist issues. Comfortable grip preferred, robust, intended consistent use and feels secure).

Cheap and cheerful

Comparing some of the bestselling beginner category push-up stands side-by-side, overall the York Pushup Stands are the clear winner – full review here.

From my own experience of these pushup bars, the Everlast Pushup Bars were simply not designed to handle much weight. I don't recommend the Everlast Pushup Stands because they bend out of shape quickly during use.

The rotating push-up stands are good for the ergonomic and biomechanical ease-of-use. In this price range, however, the push-up pro body stands are made of materials that are just too cheap and flimsy.

In the order of recommendation, highest recommend product first.

#1 – The York Pushup Stands

#2 – Push Up Pro Body Workout Abs Chest Fitness Kit Grips

#3 – Everlast Push Up Stand (don't bother with these!)

If you're planning on training long-term, then I recommend looking at some of the push-up stands in the categories below. If you're just wanting a cheap set of push-up stands to mess around with, then the York Pushup Stands or the Push Up Pro Grips should be fine.

Moderately heavy-duty, but not too expensive

These definitely stand out, I believe they may even be a miss-price! Although, I've never personally tried them myself so if the price creeps over the £25 mark, I'd recommend taking a look at the pushup bars below.

Heavy-duty, comfortable, robust, will be used consistently

Why the perfect push-up stands?

The perfect push-up stands (both V1 and V2), are quality, robust, sturdy, ergonomically designed and come with comfortable grips.

These stands are great for people that…

  • Want to focus on their target muscles (chest and triceps), instead of the feeling of a cheaply made push-up stand digging into their hands.
  • Have issues with their wrists or shoulders, and find the execution of regular push-ups to be impractical without causing injury.
  • Want push-up stands that are heavy duty enough to withstand consistent and hard workouts without breaking.
  • Don’t mind paying a little bit extra for a top quality product now, so they don’t have to buy another alternative six months down the line when it breaks.
